Day-by-Day Itinerary

DAY 1: Transfer from Derain Eco Beach Resort Uganda Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari begins early in the morning with a scenic drive from Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi, covering approximately 8–9 hours. The journey takes you through Uganda’s rolling green hills, rural villages, banana plantations, and lush countryside.
En route, you’ll stop at the Equator crossing for a photo opportunity and enjoy lunch in Mbarara or Kabale town. Depending on your chosen trekking sector—Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, or Nkuringo—you will continue toward the park in the late afternoon.
Check in at your lodge located near the gorilla trekking starting point. Relax, enjoy the cool mountain air, and prepare for your incredible gorilla adventure the next day.

DAY 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Forest

After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers. Here, you’ll be assigned to a specific gorilla family based on your fitness level and interest. Porters are available for hire to assist with your daypack and offer support during the trek.
The trek can take 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family. The trail winds through dense rainforest, steep ridges, and narrow valleys—Bwindi is rugged but stunning. Once you find the gorillas, you will have one unforgettable hour to observe them up close: a silverback lounging in the sun, infants playing, and mothers nurturing their young. Watching these gentle giants in their natural setting is one of the most humbling and emotional wildlife encounters in the world.
After the trek, return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest or optional activities like a community walk, Batwa cultural experience, or a visit to a local craft center.
